The MVI56-PDPS is recognized as an input/output module and has access to processor memory to transfer data between the processor and the module. The module supports communication with ProSoft ConfigurationBuilder and FDT comDTM via Ethernet routing using the Rockwell Automation Ethernet interface. In addition, it has a configuration/debug serial port that connects a PC to a module for configuration, status, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
The MVI56-PDPS module supports the complete master station specification according to IEC 61158. Acyclic parameter data can be transmitted via Class 1 or 2 DPV1 services, enabling the processor to easily communicate with slave devices that support the PROFIBUS DPVO/V1 protocol.
The MVI56-PDPS module acts as an input/output module between the PROFIBUS network and the ControlLogix processor. The data transfer from the processor is asynchronous with the /0 data transfer on the PROFIBUS network. The database is user-defined and stored in the module to hold the data required by the protocol.
